About

The Daily Bird

A journal. A timeline. An investigation.

The Daily Bird documents my lived experience of coercive control and the years that followed through journal entries, personal reflections, and research.

What began as a way to make sense of my own experiences evolved into an ongoing effort to understand the tactics, systems, and patterns that can exist within coercive control. As questions emerged, I researched them—exploring psychology, trauma, domestic abuse, financial abuse, technology-enabled abuse, digital privacy, cybersecurity, cybercrime, institutional responses, and other subjects when they became relevant to understanding the events I experienced.

The story is presented primarily in chronological order, allowing readers to follow events as they unfolded in real time. Many posts include original journal entries written before I understood what was happening, alongside later reflections and research that provide additional context and perspective.

The Daily Bird also documents the practical steps I took to protect myself along the way. Readers will find discussions about safety planning, documentation, evidence preservation, digital security, financial protection, seeking professional support, navigating institutions, and other strategies I used while responding to the situations I encountered. I also share lessons learned, resources, and practical safety considerations that may help others think through their own circumstances. Every situation is different, and these experiences are shared to inform—not as a substitute for professional legal, medical, mental health, or safety advice.

This is not a complete account, nor is it intended to make claims beyond what the available evidence supports. Rather, it is an evolving record of one person’s experience, the questions that arose from it, the research undertaken to better understand those events, and the decisions made in response.

Some entries are deeply personal.

Others examine the broader concepts connected to coercive control, including trauma, manipulation, financial abuse, technology-enabled abuse, hacking and cybercrime, reputation attacks, stalking behaviors, community dynamics, and institutional responses when those topics become relevant to the story.

Ultimately, The Daily Bird is more than a journal. It is a living record of survival, investigation, and learning—connecting lived experience with research, documenting the steps taken to increase safety and resilience, and sharing the knowledge gained in the hope that it helps someone else recognize patterns, ask better questions, or feel less alone in their own journey.

Because understanding often begins by looking back—and moving forward begins with knowledge.
